Enrichment is a fun and exciting opportunity to expose your child to something new and challenging! We are pleased to announce our Winter 2026 line up of classes. Sign up early to make sure you get the class you want as our classes do have capacity limits.
REGISTRATION CLOSES ON January 24th at 12PM and we will not be able to accept any late registrations.
Once submitted, you will not be able to edit your class selections on the website.
FINAL registrations will be emailed a few days before classes begin. If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will contact you and give you a chance to select another class.
**The SES PTA awards scholarships for individual classes based upon financial need. Please contact Mrs. Katkocin before proceeding with registration. All requests are confidential.

CLASS SCHEDULE
MONDAYS
8 Weeks: 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23
Sports Mix
Grades 1-5
Students will be taught a variety of skills, and practice them in game-like settings. Sports such as basketball, floor hockey, kickball, and soccer are just some of the fun games we will play. Stay after school and play your favorite sports with Mr. Truchsess, Scotland Physical Ed teacher! Students will be grouped by age/skill level to ensure safe play for all participants. No equipment needed, just wear your sneakers. Come join the fun!
Chess (6 weeks only)
Grades 2-5
Chess is a fun game of thinking. It has been proven to improve math and reading skills, and to develop memory, concentration, focus, and logical thinking. Classes will involve a combination of supervised playing and learning with emphasis on seeking checkmate and learning the basics of Chess. The class will be taught based on a curriculum developed by Glenn Budzinski, the founder and President of Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI), a non-profit chess teaching organization. Mr. Budzinski has been a chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified tournament director for 40 years. CKPCI instructors are certified teachers, PHD’s, or experienced competitive chess players
Magic
Grade K-5
Students in grades K-2 will learn three magic tricks per session from Tom O’Brien, a full-time professional magician whose credits include appearances on the Fox 61 Morning Show and WFSB’s Better Connecticut.
Tom O’Brien is a master at his craft and an excellent and entertaining teacher. All students will receive magic kits and a magic wand with the props necessary to perform them at home! Please register soon before the spaces – alakazam – disappear! Taught by Tom O’Brien.
The Let Grow Play Club
Grade K-5
A new activity where kids make their own fun! This club gives kids back the resilience-building playtime they need. It is supervised by adults, but they do not organize the fun or solve the spats. The chance to collaborate with friends, resolve disputes and bounce back from disappointments are confidence and
character building opportunities. At Play Club, kids get the social interaction they need to develop into empowered adults.
3D Design with 3D Space
Grade 3-5
Design it. Build it. Bring it to life! In this hands-on 3D design
class, students become digital designers and engineers as they turn big ideas into awesome creations. Using kid-friendly 3D modeling software, they’ll imagine, design, and create original objects-from fun characters to creative inventions-while building spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and real world design skills.Every class encourages creativity, experimentation, and thinking like a real designer.

Robot Engineers
Grade K-5
This hands-on engineering program invites students to dream, design, and engineer creative robots. Each week, students build a brand-new robot while experimenting with simple machines,
circuits, and structural systems. Through playful challenges and collaborative problem-solving, kids grow their engineering skills, creativity, and confidence as their ideas come to life.
Karate
Grades K-5
This martial arts class is great for beginners and for those who have tried other martial arts styles. SDSS Martial Arts of Ridgefield has put together a fun, active 8-week course of classes that will introduce you to basic martial arts skills and encourage honesty, patience, respect, self control and self discipline in using those skills!*Each student that signs up will be provided a white belt and will be invited to attend an additional martial arts class at our studio once a week over the 8 week session, at no additional cost. The studio is located in town at 15 Danbury road, in the same plaza with Mannen Restaurant and Bach to Rock.
Kids For Kids
Grade K-5
Do you like to throw kindness around like confetti? Do you like to fill other people’s buckets? If so, then Kids Helping Kids is the club for you! Join Ms. Donovan and Mrs. Osher, both teachers at SES, create and share meaningful projects that are sure to put smiles on the faces of students in other elementary schools who don’t have as much as we do at our wonderful SES.
GLEE CLUB
Grade K-5
Join Mrs. Linda Feola and get ready to perform on the SES stage! Become a singing superstar with microphones and bright lights! Groups will choose a song of any genre and work together with voice techniques, harmonies, and dance moves in preparation for a big recital at the end of the session. Join this fun and exciting opportunity to shine!
FAQs
When will we receive confirmation of enrollment?
Before enrichment begins, you will receive an email to confirm your child’s enrollment.
Enrichment classes are open to students in Grade K-5, but please note some classes do have grade-level restrictions. No refunds will be available once classes begin.
How does my child get to Enrichment?
Your child will ONLY get sent to after school enrichment if you have selected “After School Enrichment (PTA sponsored)” within School Dismissal Manager. It is NOT an automatic special dismissal just because your child is enrolled in after school enrichment.
Your child will be dismissed to the After School Enrichment Supervisor(PTA) who will take them to the correct room for their Enrichment class by 3:25pm. Pick up is promptly at 4:30pm in the front lobby - there is no bus service. If you are more than 10 mins late for pick up, the PTA will need to charge a late fee of $10 to cover staff costs.
How do I set up Enrichment in School Dismissal Manager?
You will need to set up a “Recurring Dismissal” in the School Dismissal Manager app/website for EACH child participating in After School Enrichment. You’ll only need to do this once. The ending dates you’ll need to enter are below. If you have questions about School Dismissal Manager, Please contact the main office.
What happens if there is an early dismissal due to weather on an Enrichment day? If SES is canceled or has an early closing on an Enrichment day, Enrichment courses will be canceled for the day and then made up in the future. You will receive an email from PTA with information about make-up dates.
What if my child is absent on an enrichment day? Is there a make-up class? If your child is absent, they will, unfortunately, miss a day of enrichment. Make-up classes will only be offered at the end of the session if a class was canceled due to a school closure or early dismissal.
Can I send my child with a snack to have before class? Yes, you can send a nut-free snack with your child to have before class. If there are allergies in the class, we will send out a notice.
